Classes
Bharatanatyam classes are offered to students of all ages and levels. Sonali brings to her classroom years of experience working in educational environments. Sonali's teaching is hallmarked by a sincerity to pass on what she has learned from her Gurus in a traditional manner. Classes focus on a holistic learning - incorporating both practical and theoretical training. Each class begins with a series of yoga asanas and conditioning exercises to prepare the body and mind for practice. Classes are conducted in group and private settings.

** Intermediate/Advanced Students should come for the full 2 hour class. Students pay one monthly fee for classes twice per week.

Arts in Education
Sonali has extensive experience working within schools as a teacher, artist-in-residence and performer. With a Masters Degree in Education, Sonali was a founding teacher of the Heritage High School for the Arts. Currently, Sonali has shifted her focus to be an in-school Teaching Artist, working with many organizations throughout the New York City area. She has successfully integrated elements of Bharatanatyam into the mainstream educational curriculum. Sonali s residencies incorporate music, movement, rhythm and story-telling to foster creative development and cultural learning
Workshops/Lecture Demonstrations
In addition to her teaching, Sonali conducts lecture demonstrations and workshops for students, professional dancers, and art lovers. Her teaching incorporates not only the practical approaches to understanding the art form, but also the theoretical and historical perspectives. Workshops offer an interceptive experience where the historical, theoretical and practical elements of the dance form are highlighted. Sonali also conducts lec-dems and workshops on specific topics such as the Mudras, the Navarasas & the Ashta Nayikas, the Gods & Goddesses of India, as well as the epics such as the Ramayana and the Krishna Leelas.
